Why do I need merino wool?
Merino sheep are a breed of sheep whose wool is especially soft and of high quality. Australia is the main supplier of merino wool in the world, because of its mild climate and vast pastures.
One of the important indicators of wool quality is the thickness of fleece, which is measured in microns(millionths of a metre, or thousandths of a millimetre of diameter). The smaller the number of microns, the thinner the wool, and therefore softer and more valuable. The higher the number of microns, the "rougher" the fiber and the less valuable it is.
Regular sheep produce wool that is more than 30 microns thick. At a thickness of more than 28 microns, the skin begins to feel uncomfortable. There are different types of Merino wool: wide wool (strong) 23-24.5 microns, medium wool (medium) 19.6-22.9 microns, fine wool (fine) 18.6-19.5 microns and extra fine wool (extra fine) less than 18.5 microns. The extra fine merino wool has the highest value and is used in the most delicate garments, which are pleasant to wear on the naked body.
Merino products keep the owner warm but do not overheat. Like most yarns, merino has an antibacterial effect. Merino yarn has an excellent balance of warmth and lightness, because it has air particles between the fleeces, which gives it such a warming effect. Even a light layer of merino wool clothes significantly keeps the child warm.
Perfectly removes moisture, it breathes well and dries quickly. Great keeps warmth, even when it gets wet. Merino wool can be worn for a long time and washed only when it is necessary. Excellent appearance retention, t will not pill as other types of wool and it lasts for a long time. Does not absorb unpleasant odors.
